Arsenale Docks

Castello 40 – Venezia

Located next to the official venues of the Venice Biennale — Arsenale and Giardini —, the Docks are a unique location in the historic center of Venice, with large indoor and outdoor spaces, which are ideal for the installation of a temporary exhibition.

This space of about 800 square meters consists in three exhibition areas (Docks) and a terrace of over 400 square meters, which directly overlooks the Sant'Anna Canal, that connects the Giardini and the Arsenale.

Each exhibition area is 110 to 130 squared meters each and has exclusive access to the Canal. The industrial nature of the space allows any type of installation.

The outdoor space is ideal for cocktails, performances and art installations.

The intervention of Valorizzazioni Culturali

In 2008, the restoration of the historic Cucchini shipyard has converted industrial premises into an important exhibition space and venue for cultural activities. With just a small investment the simply designed spaces in the outbuildings on the waterfront have been converted into an exclusive venue.

From its reopening, Arsenale Docks hosted a few exhibitions such as “Lucid Dreams” by Cristiano Pintaldi, curated by Achille Bonito Oliva, — first exhibition to be held there during the 2011 Venice Biennale —, Vogadors (2012), official Catalan Pavilion for the 13th Venice Architecture Biennale and, more recently, the solo exhibition of the Turkish artist Ahmet Günestekin "Monumentum of Memory" (2015), presented on the occasion of the 56th Venice Art Biennale.
